Pipeline Integrity Technician

Job Description

As Pipeline Integrity Technician with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a progressive and fast-paced group of experts in the Pipeline Integrity Maintenance department. This position is based at our Jasper, AB office location.

This role will be responsible for ensuring effective functioning of the field operations of the pipeline integrity program for TMPL and Puget Sound. The position plays a central role in the completion of field portion of the TMPL integrity program. Trans Mountain Integrity Technicians perform both pipeline integrity work and inspection duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinates timing and logistics for the integrity digs
  • Oversees NDE and anomaly assessments – work with Technical Services to determine repair methods
  • Performs Non-Destructive Testing (UT, MPI) on facilities
  • Oversees pipeline surface preparation (sandblasting) and coating application
  • Oversees temporary and permanent pipeline repairs (sleeve installation, etc.)
  • Oversees civil construction activities (excavation, compaction, and backfilling work) to ensure compliance with all applicable standards, procedures, and regulations
  • Coordinates NDE activities for Cathodic Protection asset installation and maintenance
  • Inspection of in-service welding activities
  • Provides emergency response capabilities to RoW locations

Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • Successful completion of High School
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Ultra-Sonic Testing, Magnetic Particle Inspection CGSB I (limited) certification, NACE Coatings Inspector I certification, Installation of compression repair sleeves are required
  • Canadian Standards Association Z662 training, Class 1 Driver’s License, Corrosion Control certification would be considered an asset
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle strict deadlines
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) are required – ability to receive and communicate technical information accurately and timely
  • Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously as attention to detail is critical
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle strict deadlines
  • ·Able to maintain a high regard for personal safety, safety of company assets and employees, and the general public
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
