Commissioning Lead, Edmonton Terminal, TMEP (term role)

Job Description

As a Commissioning Lead with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a dedicated team of individuals who are supporting business readiness for the Trans Mountain Expansion Project (TMEP). Specifically, the role will require the development and execution of commissioning packages as defined by Mechanical, Electrical and Civil tie in job plans. This position is based at our Edmonton Terminal but may require travel to other locations along the pipeline system between Edmonton and Vancouver. The Commissioning Lead will report to the Manager of Operations Interface for the Trans Mountain Expansion Project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Trans Mountain Field Operations staff and TMEP contractors to develop and manage commissioning plans that are associated with modified systems and sub-systems related to the expansion of the facility.
  • Ensure all Quality Control and Quality Assurance (QC/QA) documents are thoroughly reviewed and conform to expected specifications.
  • Manage document control associated with Commissioning Efforts and all associated supporting documents.
  • Liaise with the local Facility Operations Management Team and our TM Operations Liaison to coordinate and schedule the required manpower for given Commissioning Plans.
  • Provide detailed commissioning reports updating progress and deficiencies as noted from commissioning check sheets and or QC/QA documentation.   

Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding and commitment to processes and systems established to ensure safety and protection of the environment within Terminals and Operating Facilities.
  • Possess the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment including an aptitude for identifying and engaging appropriate stakeholders to cooperatively develop plans, resolve issues, and share information.
  • Minimum high school diploma with additional credentials such as power engineering certification, journeyman mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation status, or an engineering technology diploma.
  • Previous experience leading Commissioning Teams, Project Inspection and Operations personnel in the Oil and Gas sector.
  • Knowledge of Terminal and Pipeline mechanical, electrical and instrumentation systems, which includes the ability to interpret P&ID’s, Civil, Electrical and Mechanical drawings.
  • Possess strong verbal and written technical communication skills.
  • Ability to self-manage time and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel. 

Other Requirements and Information

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to travel as required.
  • The position will require Site and/or project office work. There may be a need to work from a home office as well as in the field.
  • The work schedule is very dynamic and will require a flexible work week with potential evening and weekend work.
