Current Opportunities:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Operator. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in resource road construction, maintenance, rehabilitation, deactivation and will have a strong understanding of construction techniques, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
This position will also support other SRLLP division projects, requiring the use of heavy equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy machinery including bulldozers, graders, excavators, and compactors to build, maintain, and deactivate roads.
- Follow plans, designs and prescriptions, to ensure compliance to project specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries on the job site.
- Collaborate with managers, supervisors, and other team members to coordinate project specific activities.
- Operate equipment in a manner that maximizes productivity while minimizing damage to the environment and surrounding infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform minor repairs as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment maintenance activities.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to stay updated on industry best practices and safety standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Operator in road building and deactivation projects.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Certification or training in heavy equipment operation preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering plans, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Physically fit and able to work in various weather conditions and challenging terrains.
- Knowledge of regulations and best practices for minimizing environmental impact.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols at all times.
- Flexibility to work overtime, at-times away from home, and travel to remote job sites as required.
- Ability to work alone in a safety sensitive environment.
- Experience working with First Nations people is valued.
- Knowledge of the Simpcw First Nations community is valued.
