Delivery Driver / Yard Attendant

Barriere Timber Mart is a modern, multi department Building Supply Store and Lumber Yard located in the heart of the North Thompson Valley, 45 minutes north of Kamloops, B.C. 

Current Opportunities

Barriere Timber Mart is looking for a dependable and enthusiastic Delivery Driver/ Yard Attendant who to join the team. The successful applicant will be dedicated to outstanding customer service, have excellent communication skills, and have the ability to work independently and become a member of a highly motivated team. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide a high level of customer service and product expertise for all customers in the yard. 
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity when reviewing receipts to issue correct materials to customers. 
  • Inspect yard returns ensuring return policies and conditions are being met. 
  • Load and unload materials being delivered to the yard. 
  • Accurately organize lumber orders that require delivery or being picked up. 
  • Practice and maintain safe procedures for the handling of all yard materials. 
  • Operating HIAB crane within BC Association for Crane Safety operational standards. • Rigging, hoisting and securement of loads for transport for lift and carry services. 
  • Perform pre-operational checks on the crane to ensure it is in safe working condition. 
  • Safely manoeuvre loads by following all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents or damage to equipment. 
  • Complete maintenance and inspection records or equipment at outlined frequencies. 
  • Complete risk assessments and other various safety records at outlined frequencies. 
  • Process truck logs and record of materials/ supplies transported, along with other required paperwork. 
  • Conduct pre-trip truck inspections to ensure truck and crane are operating properly and notify management if any repairs or maintenance are required. 
  • Safely operator forklift and skid-steer. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications 

  • Highly skilled in providing timely, efficient, and considerate customer service. 
  • Excellent listening, communication, and organizational skills. 
  • Detail orientated and strong attention to following safe work practices. 
  • Ability to perform job duties that involve stretching, bending, lifting, and carrying objects of varying weights. 
  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a current drivers abstract. 
  • HIAB crane operator certification and Forklift certification is considered an asset.
