Accounting & HR Associate

Located in the North Thompson valley, at Simpcw Resources Group we provide environmental, management, and operational services while preserving Simpcw culture and heritage with respect towards the environment. Current Opportunities

Simpcw Resources LLP is growing rapidly and looking for a dependable Accounting and HR Associate to join our team. Reporting to the Human Resource Manager, the Accounting and HR Associate is responsible for providing accounting and administrative support to the finance and Human Resource team. The ideal candidate is highly knowledgeable about payroll regulations and possesses excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. This opportunity will appeal to an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and who is an effective collaborator. 

Accounting Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze and verify payroll reports and documents for accuracy; post journal entries and make necessary adjustments or corrections as required through established procedures. 
  • Ensure the accurate processing of regular payroll, incentive payouts, all interim checks, audit reports, data uploads, year-end activities, tax forms and payroll impacting changes. 
  • Review coding on sales invoices and purchase orders. 
  • Reconciliation of general ledger accounts. 
  • Provide assistance with payroll related issues and questions from various areas within the organization. 
  • Provide immediate professional finance work, such as reports, audits, and statements, including review of colleagues’ work. 

Human Resource Responsibilities 

  • Seek opportunities to improve/enhance payroll and time processes, provide insights and recommendations. 
  • Receive, analyze, and process transactions related to human resources programs, ensuring that corrective action is taken to avoid errors and deadlines are met. 
  • Assist the various teams in managing procedures and preparing various Human Resources related documentation. 
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personnel files and attendance records. 
  • Provide general administrative support, such as preparing presentations and other miscellaneous projects as required. 
  • Assist with the day-to-day efficient operation of the HR office. 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Manage sensitive employee information ensuring confidentiality and integrity of data. 
  • Establish and maintain a working rapport with appropriate levels of personnel across the organization, at both management and non-management levels. 
  • Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures. 
  • Identify and evaluate problems and suggest solutions to help improve processes and the employee experience. 
  • Assist and backup other members of the finance and human resources team as required. 
  • Perform other assignments (or duties) as required. 

Qualifications 

  • Professional Payroll Certification (asset) 
  • 3 years' experience running payroll. 
  • Experience working in HR in Administration, Analyst or Generalist roles would be preferred. 
  • Excellent digital literacy and proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite; particularly Excel
  • Experience working with First Nations people is valued. 
  • Knowledge of the Simpcw First Nations community is valued.
