Water Monitoring Program

Monitoring changes to water is essential to understanding anthropogenic, climate change, and natural impacts over time. Understanding the conditions of a stream or water body from this perspective can enhance conservation, enhancement, management, and restoration decisions. Simpcw Resources Group works with Secwepemc Fisheries Commission to monitor conditions Louis Creek and Lemieux Creek. Data collected consists of water temperature, velocity, discharge, pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, and conductivity. Additional information obtained includes photographs and incidental observations of fish identified during field visits.

SRG is working to obtain funding to expand this project and develop new monitoring stations within Simpcwúl̓ecw.
