Whitecroft Restoration Project

Restoration work in Louis Creek (St’éxwem) is improving stream stability and riparian health to protect salmon habitat and support juvenile fish survival.

Launched in spring 2024, the Whitecroft Restoration Project brought together Simpcw, Secwépemc Fisheries Commission, Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc, DFO, and local landowners. Its goal was to restore an impacted stream in Louis Creek, where flooding, desiccation, and migration barriers threatened juvenile fish survival.

Ecological data collected during freshet provided vital insights into water flow and salmon habitat, guiding restoration planning. The project not only advanced fish survival but also fostered training, cultural exchange, and leadership, building capacity for future efforts across Simpcwúl̓ecw.
