The Vavenby log yard played a critical role in supporting the Trans Mountain Expansion Project (TMEP) by serving as the site for grinding and disposing of approximately 250,000 used wooden access mats, which were repurposed for biofuel purposes.
While the majority of the material was successfully processed, 25,000 cubic meters of residual material required disposal at a registered facility. In partnership with TMEP, we ensured the environmentally responsible handling of these materials, completing the project efficiently and sustainably.
We were responsible for coordinating the cleanup of the log yard, including preparing both the floor and slopes to ensure the area was ready for disposal activities. Our team managed the loading and trucking of over 600 loads of material, overcoming daily logistical challenges and ensuring the project progressed smoothly.
The successful completion of this initiative saw 250,000 wooden access mats and 25,000 cubic meters of residual material processed and disposed of on time and within budget. This effort met all environmental and regulatory requirements and underscored our commitment to sustainable project execution.
The work was supported by heavy machinery for grinding and material handling, transportation trucks, collaboration and coordination software for logistics, and Scale Master Services for quantity control of each load.
