Joining the Simpcw Resources Group Mentorship Program with the Environmental Division has been a truly life changing experience. Growing up in the Simpcw community, I have always cared deeply about animals and wildlife and this program gave me the chance to turn that passion into action.
I have contributed to projects that protect wildlife and promote environmental sustainability, including learning about the critical role badgers play in our ecosystem, something I had not fully appreciated before. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the connection between wildlife, the land, and our shared responsibility to protect both.
This mentorship has boosted my confidence, sharpened my skills, and inspired me to keep learning. I have discovered that protecting the environment is not just about science or data, it is about people, passion, and purpose.
My advice to anyone considering the program is to stay curious and open to learning. The teamwork, dedication, and shared commitment I have witnessed here have shown me that even small actions can create lasting change.
It is an honour to be part of something bigger than myself, something that will benefit our community and the environment for generations to come.
