Lead - General Labourer

Located in the North Thompson valley, at Simpcw Resources Group we provide environmental, management, and operational services while preserving Simpcw culture and heritage with respect towards the environment. Our goals include creating economic growth from the commercial development of natural resources within the Simpcw'ulécw (Simpcw Territory) by being the major contractor and competing for work in both the public and private sectors.

Current Opportunities
Reporting to the Asset Manager the Lead General Labourer will support the positive implementation and execution of the Firewood Program. They will provide additional support throughout multiple divisions as required, and will be required to work in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and track firewood requests from the community.
  • Create an inventory of available wood.
  • Coordinate with internal resources to ensure that wood is available for the program.
  • Cut firewood to appropriate size.
  • Prepare, stack and bundle wood for easy delivery throughout the winter months.
  • Schedule burns to dispose of bad wood.
  • Clean up after wood cuts.
  • Organize log decks via skid steer.
  • Bucking, splitting, loading and delivery of wood orders.
  • Upon request stacking wood at the elder’s home.
  • Brushing, clearing, and creating trails
  • On call if back up support at Johnson Lake Resort as required
  • Driving vehicles from Chu Chua to Kamloops when required for inspections, maintenance, etc.
  • Snow removal in Chu Chua yard.
  • Yard clean-up.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A valid Drivers License
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 50 pounds etc.)
  • Experience using a wood splitter.
  • Experience using a chainsaw.
  • Experience operating a skid steer.
  • OFA Level 1
  • Environment Awareness
