WHAT’S THE JOB?

Simpcw Resources LLP currently seeking Junior Environmental Professionals to join the company’s growing Environmental team. This team is focused on providing professional environmental services balancing environmental protection and development within the Simpcw Territory. Reporting to the Environmental Project Manager, the Junior Environmental Professional will assist in and conduct environmental surveys and environmental monitoring, as well as providing office support for literature reviews, data analysis, report writing etc.

This position can be based out of either Kamloops, Clearwater or Barriere, B.C. with travel through out the Territory as required. This role is for a full-time, permanent position.

WHAT YOU DO?

  • Collection of field data for fisheries, vegetation, water quality, and wildlife assessments.
  • Environmental monitoring in accordance with specified protocols on a variety of small and large projects, including liaising with clients and contractors.
  • Photo documentation, data management, and analysis of scientific data.
  • Preparation of technical reports and proposals.
  • Following standards for the design, production, and delivery of services.
  • Operation and maintenance of a variety of scientific equipment.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Acquired a B.Sc. or Technical Diploma in aquatic or terrestrial biology, natural resource science, forestry, or related science
  • 1-3 years of relevant field experience in one or a combination of the following discipline categories:
    • Fisheries and aquatics (e.g., fish counts, fish salvage, WQ monitoring, watercourse surveys, wetland function assessments, riparian function assessments).
    • Terrestrial wildlife and birds (e.g., breeding bird nesting surveys, call-playback surveys, raptor surveys, wildlife and species at risk surveys, amphibian and reptile salvage, amphibian breeding pond surveys, caribou habitat restoration and monitoring surveys).
    • Vegetation and reclamation (e.g., terrestrial ecosystem surveys, rare plant and ecological community surveys, weed surveys, reclamation and post-construction environmental monitoring).
  • Valid Class 5 driver license with clean driving record
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge and user experience in GIS applications
  • Solid organizational and time-management skills

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Note: Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol Testing will be required
